2017 Drifter
100% Viognier – 37% Bella Collina Vineyard, 34% Glenrose Vineyard, 29% Terra Mia Vineyard.
Paso Robles . 170 cases produced. 16.5% Alc.
Destination itself is obscure; we are at best, mere passangers aboard an ever-drifting vessel.
2017 marks our third vintage of Drifter. 100% Viognier from 3 different vineyards, all co-fermented together and aged in concrete. That’s right, CONCRETE! You may be thinking, why concrete? Concrete aging preserves minerality and fruit, while promoting micro oxygenation through its porous walls, allowing the wine to age better then stainless steel. We are super excited to share this one with you all!
Medium gold in color with a well-rounded nose of candied banana, mango creamsicle, honeysuckle blossoms, guava, and a kiss of crushed limestone. Entering the palate very soft and rounded, the wine is quickly met with a dash of acidy followed by ripe notes of passionfruit, dried peaches and grapefruit, ending crisp and dry with lingering tropical fruit flavors. This one is begging to be drank!
